A pretty evening bag can add just the right finishing touch to a party ensemble. Hard-case minaudieres have been especially popular in the past few seasons. These cute little bags first became popular in the late 1940s and remained trendy during the early 1950s. Actress Jennifer Jones carried one in the 1955 movie Love Is a Many Splendored Thing. Back in the day, mother-of-pearl inlay was a popular finish for a hard-care minaudiere. Hand-beaded clutches were also very popular.
Today's evening bags can be even more elaborately decorated than their vintage predecessors. See some of the newest styles in my list of evening bags for winter 2013/2014.
